IMHX, Birmingham
Randex showed a simulated version of the latest Compact Twin vertical lift system.
This product, manufactured and designed by the Weland Group in Sweden proved a great hit with the visitors. Rather than belts and chains, the Compact Lift benefits from rack and pinion technology to deliver trays up to 4 metres wide. The rack and pinion system allows each corner of the lift to be powered (4 wheel drive!) this creates an incredibly stable platform from which trays with a weight of up to 500kgs to be seamlessly delivered to the access opening. The system is consequently hugely reliable and the unique design of the twin extractor achieves extremely fast pick routines. “What was an 8 hour pick cycle now takes us 2 hours” quotes one happy Production Manager.
An animation of the unique twin lift in operation can be viewed below :

Objectives Achieved
Randex attended site and carried out a full assessment of the current storage equipement and filing methods. The cupboards contained lateral suspended filing pockets with individual staff file inserts. The cupboards were full up and there was no more available floor space in the office.
A detailed report was prepared and the discussed with the Department. The recommendation was to install Randex Times-2 Rotary Filing units, fitted with shelves, and supply end tab folders with colour coded labels containing the details of the member of staff. The units provided room for more files in the future and the folders eliminated the problem of files being in the wrong order and uneccessry space being utilised by the suspended pockets. The new files were prepared by the Randex Filing Team offsite ready and ready for use when they were delivered.. The Department installed Randex LabelsAnywhere and can now produce their own labels as required.

Innovative Solution Required
The unit has a statutory requirement to house pupil records for 10 years and had reached the time where the allocated space in the archive was full. The capacity to store another 4 years was still required. Randex carried out a full survey of the current system and the storage area.
Challenge
To meet the needs of the staff the records needed to be filed and retrieved with ease and the new system had to fit in the current area.
Solution
Randex supplied 4 units of Times-2 and 3.5inch Expansion Wallets to house the files. This will provide capacity for the 10 years and other associated filing. The units were installed and the wallets were supplied during the summer break ready for the start of the new term. Work has now started with the following response from the staff.

Randex reaches the Outer Hebrides
Storas Uibhist are a community owned land unit. The company was set up to create a platform for the Economic and Social regeneration of South Uist, Eriskay and Banbecula. The organisation values there unique environment, history and culture and wish to create a community which is confident in its future and determines the direction of its own development.
Randex were approached to provide a record storage solution for storing crofting and land sales records etc. Which were being stored within traditional four drawer filing cabinets.
Randex supplied two units of Times-2® which offered the equivalent capacity of 10 traditional four drawer filing cabinets and saved approx 60% of the floorspace available.
Our pre-indexing service meant that all folders arrived with our installation team ready for immediate use in the new system, colour coded with a pre discussed label design specific to the exact application. Jean Rankin who is in charge of administration also uses the LABELSANYWHERE system to print additional labels in house.
Our installation engineers enjoyed the unique and spectacular scenery on their 5 hour ferry trip from Oban to Lochboisdale to complete the installation.
